Performance Competitions
Every two years the International Society of Bassists sponsors the ISB Double Bass Competition, with divisions for solo, jazz and orchestral bassists age 19-30, and two divisions for younger bassists. The competition is held in conjunction with the ISB’s biennial convention. See the Performance Competitions page for more information.
Maker's Competition
Also held in conjunction with the ISB convention is the ISB Maker’s Competition, where new instruments from around the world are evaluated by both workmanship and tone judges. For more information, see the Maker's Competition page.
Composition Competition
The ISB also sponsors the biennial David Walters/ISB Composition Competition, with grand prizes in three divisions: solo, chamber and bass with media.
